Rapala Lures
Rapala Holds the World Record for World Records
According to the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) record books, all over the world more big fish eat little fish that swim like Rapala. It's a fact-more world record fish have been caught on Rapala branded lures than any other type of lure. Rapala Lures have broken world records on every continent, excluding Antarctica.
Mike Leech, Ambassador at Large for IGFA stated, "Rapala Lures seem to consistently be the leading brand we see on record applications." Not only does Rapala have the most world records of all time, but once again Rapala was at the top of the world record list in 200.
Rapala lures were responsible for fifteen new world record catches in 2005.
In addition to having the most world record catches, Rapala world records include several major species categories, including: Tarpon, Wahoo, Snook, Peacock Bass, Barracuda and Rainbow Trout.
IGFA maintains and publishes world records for saltwater, freshwater, fly fishing catches, U.S. state freshwater records, awarding certificates of recognition to each record holder. IGFA is recognized as the official keeper of the world saltwater records since 1939. IGFA entered the field of freshwater record keeping when Field & Stream transferred its 68 years of records to the association in 1978.
